CIO Summit Morning 2
Peter Wilton kicked off this morning with a session on constructing a framework for innovation - setting the right context within the organisation to support and embrace innovation. Innovation is not a process but rather a willingness to challenge the organisation’s assumptions. Organisations need to balance sustaining and transformative innovation - being effective requires a different business model to simply being efficient. Peter is running a masterclass session tomorrow which I will be attending - looking forward to that.
In the second session Andrew Lam-Po-Tang talked about the Fairfax experiences with moving to Google. An interesting insight into an organisation of a reasonable scale changing away from the traditional Microsoft Office tools. The ability to collaborate in real-time was a strong driver of Google tool adoption.
The quick-fire sessions were good, short-burst 10-12 minute slots. A good format for sharing experiences and lessons.
