StrengthsFinder - My Strengths

A few years back I bought a copy of Tom Rath’s StrengthsFinder book. The book is based on the Gallup’s personality assessment tool, which has been taken by thousands of people around the world since it’s launch in the early 2000’s. Gallup has collected a lot of data and built up the assessment tool based on years of experience.

The book included a code for using the online StrengthsFinder tool to assess your own strengths. I took the 200+ question assessment and got some good insight into my personal areas of strength. I have used this information to plan some of my own personal development activities over the past few years.

Whilst looking for something else I stumbled across the strengths report and thought I’d share the results of my assessment. Below are my top five strength themes, in order of relative weighting. Overall I think they are reasonable summary of my strengths.

1. LEARNER

You are drawn to the process of learning. The process, more than the content or result, is especially exciting for you.

2. IDEATION

An idea is a connection. Yours is the kind of mind that is always looking for connections. Ideas are thrilling.

3. STRATEGIC

You can sort through clutter and see the best route. This perspective allows you to see patterns where others simply see complexity.

4. WOO

Woo stands for winning others over. You enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and getting them to like you.

5. MAXIMIZER

Excellence, not average, is your measure. Strengths, whether your own or someone else’s fascinated you.
